Michigan House is a six-bed home for boys ages 11½ to 18½ in Fresno. We are always accepting applications from direct care staff and mental health professionals who want their work to matter.
Small enough to know every kid by name.
Six beds changes everything. Our staff are not managing a caseload of strangers — they know which youth is having a hard week, who needs a ride to practice, and who is close to going home.
Clinical and direct care staff work side by side here, not in separate silos. The therapist knows what happened at breakfast; the direct care staff know what came up in session. That is how a young person actually steps down to a lower level of care in three to six months.

Direct Care Staff
Direct care staff are the constant in a young person's day — the one who gets them up for school, sits with them when they are upset, drives them to the lake, and models what steady adult behavior looks like. It is demanding work, and it is the work that changes outcomes.
What you will do
- Supervise and support six boys in a structured, homelike setting
- Hold the daily routine together — wake-up, school, meals, chores, bedtime
- De-escalate conflict and coach youth through hard moments
- Drive youth to school, appointments, and community activities
- Lead and take part in recreation and skill-building activities
- Document behavior, incidents, and progress accurately and on time
What we look for
- 21 or older, with a valid California driver's license and a clean driving record
- High school diploma or GED
- Able to pass a criminal background check (Live Scan) and TB clearance
- CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to become certified
- Patience, consistency, and a level head under pressure
- Experience with adolescents, foster care, or behavioral health is welcome but not required
Mental Health Professionals
Our clinical team carries the treatment side of the program — individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and the coordination that moves a young person toward a lower level of care. With six beds, you carry a caseload you can actually hold in your head.
What you will do
- Provide individual and group therapy to youth in the home
- Write and update treatment plans, progress notes, and assessments
- Take part in Child and Family Team meetings
- Coordinate with placing workers, families, schools, and psychiatry
- Give direct care staff clinical guidance and de-escalation strategy
- Drive discharge and step-down planning from intake forward
What we look for
- Licensed in California as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Psychologist — or registered as an AMFT, ASW, or APCC working toward licensure
- Experience with adolescents, trauma, or residential and behavioral health settings
- Comfortable with documentation standards for county and Medi-Cal billing
- Able to pass a criminal background check (Live Scan) and TB clearance
- Supervision hours are available for registered associates
